March 4, 2017 | Holy Spirit Catholic Church | Huntsville, Alabama
Caroline and Colby’s early March wedding was a sign that spring was just around the corner. The trees were just starting to show signs of green buds, the robins were hopping around the grounds of the beautiful brick church and there was just the slightest bit of crispness in the air. The pastel florals enveloped in dusty green lamb’s ear and paired with soft gray bridesmaid dresses were a perfect color palette for the transition from winter to spring.
Caroline and Colby were married at Holy Sprit Catholic Church, the same church the bride grew up attending. Her mother requested having Caroline’s christening gown (that Caroline, her sister and her mother all wore as babies), her First Communion dress and her wedding dress photographed together. I love that Mrs. Counts wanted to incorporate these sentimental pieces into her daughter’s wedding day.
The bride wanted to have a special moment with her dad where he would see her in her wedding dress for the very first time. The whole family, including myself, were all teary-eyed. These are the moments that make me think to myself, “I am so blessed to do this as my job!”
Caroline and Colby wanted to stick with tradition and decided to wait to see each other until she walked down the aisle. It was another tear-jerker moment! Thankfully, the flower girls and ring bearer had just made an adorable (and very friendly) grand entrance into the church, which helped provide some comic relief before the emotional moments when Colby laid eyes on his bride for the first time. The rest of the ceremony was both sacred and beautiful as the afternoon sun came pouring in through the stained glass windows.
After the ceremony, I was able to steal the bridal party away for some fun photos. These guys and gals were a fun bunch, but I think that will be pretty obvious from some of the pictures! After photos we walked over to the church hall which had been completely transformed thanks to the amazing talents of Kris Clark Designs. The large room was unrecognizable after she worked her incredible magic. The band, Union Road kept the dance floor full as the bridal party and guests danced the evening away amongst flowing drapery, white paper lanterns and festive lighting. One of my favorite parts of the day was when Caroline, her sister, and their cousin all took turns dancing with their precious grandfather. Photos from their dance were some of my favorite from this wonderful wedding day.
