June 23, 2017 | Hampton Cove Wedding Plantation | Gurley, Alabama
If you follow along with my instastories then you saw some behind the scenes snippets from this rainy and severe weather-threatening wedding day. Lindsey and Michael were married at the always elegant Hampton Cove Wedding Plantation on the same day that Tropical Storm Cindy was wreaking weather havoc on Northern Alabama. My heart always hurts for couples who spend months, even years, planning their perfect wedding day and then the weather doesn’t cooperate. However, I’ve been so fortunate to work with amazing couples who, even in the midst of a downpour, keep smiling because they value a marriage over a wedding. Lindsey and Michael were no exception.
Both from Colorado, Michael and Lindsey met at a young age on the race track. Their families were active drag racers, a tradition that the couple has continued. We actually incorporated Michael’s race car into their engagement session which made for some really fun photos, especially since Lindsey was wearing a lace gown and they were in the middle of a field surrounded by mountains!
Even though we went running for cover several times throughout the day, Michael and Lindsey’s wedding was wonderful! Lindsey was even able to have her dream outdoor ceremony (and it only sprinkled on us!). Everyone was so easy going and flexible which is so important on a day like this. The bride and groom opted for a first look which provided us much more flexibility with portraits – something to consider if your wedding day is calling for rain. And I have to mention the amazing staff at HCWP and my wonderful second shooter and dear friend, Irene Kennedy. Without them, this day would not have gone nearly as smoothly!
Lindsey and Michael, it’s evident that you two were meant for each other. I wish you both many, many blessings on your marriage and just remember, keep smiling even when it rains.
This is when it started pouring again. We ran for cover, waited it out and then got these beauties….
More rain! Thank goodness for the barn overhangs! The bridal party stays dry and we still get pretty photos.
She took her job very seriously 😉
