May 12, 2018 | Cove United Methodist Church | Burritt on the Mountain | Huntsville
After a proposal in the middle of a wildlife sanctuary in south-western Kenya and months of planning and preparation Mackenzie and Joshua’s wedding finally came! And of what a beautiful, love-filled day it was! You know the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child?” It also takes a village to plan and pull off a wedding and that’s exactly what happened with this couple’s wedding. Mackenzie’s parents are resident missionaries who help run an orphanage in Kenya that serves 98 precious children. Due to the Coghlan’s being on the other side of the world for most of Mackenzie and Joshua’s engagement, many friends and church members stepped up to help this family plan Mackenzie’s dream wedding. Such a beautiful example of the church.
You really need to read more about Mackenzie and Joshua’s proposal – it’s like something straight out of the Bachelor. There’s a link at the bottom of this post to their engagement session which describes all the amazing details.
The bride and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready at the McMullan Cove Clubhouse. We then went to Cove United Methodist Church where the ceremony was held. Again, so many wonderful people who were there to help in any way they could. After some bridal party portraits Mackenzie and Joshua became husband and wife as Joshua’s dad officiated the sweetest and most touching ceremony. After the ceremony, the new Mr. and Mrs. Gooch were greeted by a surprise guest – their dog Blaze who was brought up by friends from Mobile. It was such a sweet reunion. We then ended the day at Burritt on the Mountain with some more beautiful photos, dinner and dancing.
I just adore this couple. I so admire their love for each other, their love for their families and their love for everyone around them. It is no wonder that so many people wanted to pitch in to give them the perfect wedding day.
Before heading to Burritt on the Mountain for their reception, Mackenzie and Joshua were greeted by their sweet dog, Blaze, who was brought up from Mobile to surprise the newly married couple.
I love that you can see Mackenzie’s mom, wiping away tears, in the background.
Do these two look familiar?!?! I photographed Ashley and Jake’s wedding at this same place two weeks before. It was so fun to see them and the Bigoney family again.
Mackenzie’s sorority sisters greeted her with red roses before she left for her honeymoon.
