I’ve thought long and hard about what I would say when it came time to write Madelyn and Michael’s wedding blog, and even though I’ve put so much thought into it, I still feel like I’m not going to be able to adequately describe just how wonderful these to are. But here goes…
I first met Madelyn when my family and I first visited Westmeade Baptist Church before my husband, Justin, was hired on as the youth minister. Justin and I, along with our two children (Claire wasn’t even 4 and Jax was 1 month old) had been standing down at the front of the sanctuary shaking hands and meeting the people we would soon call our church family. At that time, Madelyn was a senior in high school and out of hundreds of people I had met, she was one who I remember most. Her big smile, contagious laughter and comfortable demeanor made me feel like I’d known her my whole life. Over the years, she has become like family to us. She was a member of my college Sunday School class as well as Justin’s youth intern, but even more than that, she was and is a dear friend. She loves my children so well and they in turn think she walks on water. She’s truly something special and I’ve known without a doubt that she would end up with an equally special man, which she of course did.
Michael was also a part of our church’s college ministry. He and Madelyn were actually very good friends before they became a couple. Michael is a man of integrity who loves his family, his friends and, of course, Madelyn, deeply. Don’t let his monotone voice fool you – he’s full of feelings and emotions. A perfect blend of strong and sensitive. He’s a man after God’s own heart and he will lead his family well.
Their wedding was full of beautiful, tender moments. The love that these two have for each other is apparent to everyone around them and I hope I was able to capture it through my lens…Enjoy!
Madelyn wore the necklace that her dad gave her mom many years ago. I just love sentimental touches like these!
One of my favorites!! Look at the pure joy seeing their best friend looking like a bride for the first time!
One of the sweetest first looks EVER!!!!
They wrote love letters to each other and then read them in each other’s presence.
Madelyn and Michael wanted to have a private foot washing ceremony. Jesus washed the feet of his disciples as a symbol of his devotion to humble himself as a leader and serve his followers. Such a beautiful way to begin a marriage.
There’s that big smile and contagious laugh I mentioned earlier!
Almost half of the wedding party are or were in my sunday school class. Such a fun day!
Madelyn’s mom made this watercolor for guests to sign!
Oh, and I forgot to mention…my sweet husband officiated the wedding. Isn’t he cute?!?
Hannah is Michael’s twin sister and also Maid of Honor. I just love this sweet moment they shared before he became a married man.
Family photo time!
Madelyn’s dad presented her with a brand new 2017 penny. He wanted to replicate a photo that he has of his mom from her wedding day where she received a penny to put in her shoe from her dad. Again, love all the sentimental touches!
