There are not enough words to adequately express my feelings about Mk and Keenan! I first met MK at a coffee house where we talked for hours about her upcoming wedding, her fiancé, Keenan, who was currently attending the Air Force Academy in Colorado, and swapping stories about how we both handled long distance relationships. (Justin and I dated long distance for three years before we were finally married). During their engagement, I learned that MK is a person of intention, sentiment and thoughtfulness. Even though I only met Keenan on the day of the wedding, I felt like I knew him because MK was so good about keeping me up to date on their lives.
Keenan and MK were married on Memorial Day weekend at Jackson Way Baptist Church where her father is the senior pastor. So many family members and friends came together to help give MK the wedding of her dreams. Her sister, Mary Beth, along with others, completely transformed the church’s gym into a beautiful reception space using white draping, twinkle lights and magnolia leaves. Personal and sentimental touches were seen and felt throughout the entire day that allowed wedding guests to feel connected to the sweet couple.
This wedding was such a sweet reminder that love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things and I’m so thankful I was able to be a part of it.
This jackson vine was picked from MK’s late grandmother’s yard and she wore some of the leaves in her hair as a way to honor the woman she loved so dearly. The earrings beside the vine belonged to MK’s great-grandmother and are over 100 years old.
I learned a new military term at this wedding. These are called “party sleeves” 🙂
In lieu of a program, MK had married couples share marriage advice which guests read before the ceremony began.
This was the first saber arch I had the opportunity to photograph and now I’m wishing this was common practice at EVERY wedding!
At this point, the storm of all storms had arrived and we were able to run inside right before the torrential rain started falling.
A line of photographs telling the story of their relationship in pictures from 2011 to the present.
This was also my first cake cutting with a saber, which I kept referring to as a sword. Whoops!
Guests threw paper airplanes during the couple’s sendoff in honor of Keenan’s involvement in the Air Force and his future as a pilot.
